Practise asking for directions in Spanish — with an AI that grades you
A medium-level scenario where the hard part is listening: you ask one question and get back a stream of derecho, cuadras and a la izquierda.
Asking for directions is easy; understanding the answer is not. The question is a formula (disculpe, ¿cómo llego a…?), but the reply comes back fast, full of siga derecho, doble a la izquierda, dos cuadras, a mano derecha, and often with a counter-question you did not expect. You need the vocabulary of streets and blocks, the usted imperatives that strangers use, and a handful of clarifying phrases so you can slow the other person down without giving up.
Juntos rates "Pedir direcciones" medium: the AI plays a helpful police officer who gives real, multi-step directions and expects you to confirm them. It is the best scenario for practising estar for location, distance questions and the difference between derecho (straight on) and derecha (right), which has sent a great many learners the wrong way. Try it in AI Call mode: understanding directions by ear is the whole skill.

How the AI session works
You open the Pedir direcciones scenario (ask for directions) and the AI takes the other role. In the app this scenario is rated medium, which sets the vocabulary, sentence length and pace the AI starts with. You can also choose easy, medium or hard for any scenario, so the same conversation grows with you from A2 to B2.
Every message you send is scored 0–100 for grammar, vocabulary, fit with your level and how quickly you replied. Tap the score and you see one clear piece of feedback and the specific corrections: what you wrote, what a native speaker would have written, and why. Mistakes that keep recurring are filed into your Error Bank and come back in spaced-repetition reviews.
Prefer to speak? AI Call mode runs the same scenario by voice: tap the mic, say your line, and the AI transcribes it, replies out loud in Latin American Spanish and grades your spoken turn. For a situation like this one, doing it by ear is the closest thing to the real conversation.
3 mistakes learners make here
- ¿Dónde es el banco? → ¿Dónde está el banco?. Location always takes estar, even for buildings that never move.
- Siga a la derecha. → Siga derecho. Derecho is "straight on"; a la derecha is "to the right". One letter, opposite instruction.
- Soy perdido. → Estoy perdido. Being lost is a current state: estar.
