Spanish grammar checker
Check your Spanish sentence for free. Paste a sentence or a short paragraph: the Juntos tutor scores it out of 100, fixes each grammar mistake, explains why in plain English, and gives you the corrected text. Un corrector de gramática para estudiantes, gratis.
What it checks
- Verb tenses and conjugation: fui or iba, voy or fui, and the ending that matches the person.
- Ser vs estar: soy cansado or estoy cansado, es enferma or está enferma.
- Gender and number agreement: el problema, las manos, me gustan los tacos.
- Prepositions English speakers add or swap: buscar para, pensar de, por vs para.
- False friends and slips that say the wrong thing: embarazada, caliente, introducir.
- Accents that change meaning: sí and si, tú and tu, él and el.
- Spelling and typos: missing letters, swapped letters, and the ñ.
Paste a sentence or a short paragraph, up to 300 characters. You get a score out of 100, each mistake with its fix and the reason, and the whole text corrected so you can copy it.
A Spanish spell checker that understands meaning
A spell checker only knows whether a word exists. Estoy caliente is spelled perfectly, is grammatically correct, and still tells people something you almost certainly did not mean. This checker reads Spanish the way a tutor does: it scores the sentence out of 100, names the slip, explains the reason in a few words and shows how a native speaker would say it.
It checks neutral Latin American Spanish, so papas, carro, celular and computadora are all correct, and it never pushes you toward Spain-only forms.
Only after spelling and accents? The Spanish spell checker is the same tutor with the focus on spelling.
Checking Spanish accents
Most accent mistakes are small, but some change the word completely. These are the pairs the checker watches most closely:
| Without | With | Example |
|---|---|---|
| si (if) | sí (yes) | Sí, si tengo tiempo. |
| tu (your) | tú (you) | ¿Tú tienes tu pasaporte? |
| el (the) | él (he) | Él tiene el libro. |
| que (that) | qué (what) | ¿Qué dices? Dice que viene. |
| esta (this) | está (is) | Esta casa está lejos. |
| mas (but) | más (more) | Quiero más café. |
Wondering whether a particular word needs one? The Spanish accent marks course has the stress rule and a word-by-word list.
Checking a longer text: an essay, email or message
Check it a paragraph at a time, up to 300 characters each. Fix what the checker flags, then paste the corrected paragraph again: a second pass often catches an agreement that only showed up once the verb was right. Inside Juntos the tutor grades whole messages, written answers and spoken replies, and keeps a record of the mistakes you repeat.
Examples
| You write | The fix | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Soy aburrido en la clase. | Estoy aburrido en la clase. | Bored is a state, so it takes estar. Soy aburrido means you are a boring person. |
| Me gusta los tacos. | Me gustan los tacos. | Gustar agrees with the thing you like, and tacos is plural. |
| La problema es grande. | El problema es grande. | Problema ends in -a but is masculine. |
| Ayer voy al mercado. | Ayer fui al mercado. | Ayer puts it in the past, so the verb has to move too. |
| Estoy caliente. | Tengo calor. | Correct grammar, wrong meaning: on a person, caliente means aroused. |
| Busco para mis llaves. | Busco mis llaves. | Buscar already means to look for, so no para. |
More of the classics, each explained on its own page: estoy caliente, embarazada, me gusta los tacos, soy aburrido, and every Spanish slip.
