Mistakes learners make with construir

Verbs in -uir add a y in most present forms: construyo, construyes, construye, construyen, but construimos.
The third-person preterite has a y: construyó, construyeron. The -ing form is construyendo.
Destruir, incluir and contribuir follow the same pattern: incluyo, contribuye, destruyeron.
